(365 Gay) (New York) Ricky Martin is heading to Argentina by way of “Evita” on Broadway. In the first new Broadway production of the Tony Award-winning musical since its 1979 New York debut, Martin will play the character Che. The show’s producers also announced Wednesday that Argentine actress Elena Roger will star as Evita, a role she played on the London stage in 2006 to critical acclaim.

(365 Gay) An Off Broadway production of “The Kid,” based on sex columnist Dan Savage’s gay adoption memoir of the same name, opens Monday. The musical looks at what happens when Savage and his partner, Terry, decide to start a family. “We also wanted to create a musical that was true to the experiences of Dan Savage and his partner, Terry, capture the essence of who they were, without just imposing our own plot and music on their lives,” the author of the musical, Michael Zam, told the New York Times .

(GLAAD) This morning, the nominations for the 2010 Tony Awards were announced , and feature several LGBT actors, as well as several plays and musicals that feature LGBT themes. Included in the nominations for Best Play is Geoffrey Nauff t’s Next Fall , which is a moving story about a gay couple struggling with their opposing views on religion. An interesting mix of comedy and drama, Next Fall follows a unique relationship between Luke, an Evangelical Christian and Adam, an atheist, and how their unique experiences allow them to forge a relationiship that transcends their divergent faiths.

(GLAAD) GLAAD is renewing its collaboration with the producers of the Broadway production Next Fall to get people talking about this play that explores evangelical Christianity, family and being gay. Next Fall was an off-broadway hit last year when GLAAD helped organize faith leader talk back sessions. This year Producer Elton John took Next Fall to Broadway and GLAAD is working with producers again to identify faith leaders for talk backs.
(365 Gay) A Fort Worth, Texas, theater that planned to show a college student-directed Terrence McNally play with a gay Jesus character announced Thursday the offer is no longer valid. Artes de la Rosa posted a statement on their Web site that the production of “Corpus Christi” will need to find another venue. Students from Tarleton State University planned to state the production.
